Hi, John here!

As you may already know, I have a large following on one of my Korean channels—the one where I teach language immersion methods entirely in Korean to a Korean audience. That channel focuses more on video essays, whereas The I Speak Korean Pretty Well Podcast (which is in English) is more podcast-oriented. However, both share the same goal: helping people acquire native-like fluency.

Through the Korean YouTube channel, I run a FREE Discord community where we discuss language learning, share experiences, ask questions, and recommend content. There’s even a dedicated chat room where we upload photos of which content we watched, listened, or read in our target language that day to help keep each other motivated—📸 오늘의 인증샷 (Today’s Immersion Content). Just look for the chat with the camera 📸 icon if you can't read Korean yet!

Most of our current Discord members are Korean. But since you came across The I Speak Korean Pretty Well Podcast, you might be looking for a space to connect with other TISKPWP subscribers—while also meeting some of my Korean channel’s subscribers. So, I’ve decided to open the community to TISKPWP subscribers as well. And it’s free.

This is a great way to stay motivated because, as we all know, language learning can feel lonely at times. And who knows? You might just meet your Korean best friend here!

Why Is It Free? And Will It Stay Free?

Right now, The I Speak Korean Pretty Well Podcast is still growing, and I’m happy to share this community with all of you. In fact, I really do hope you give it a chance and join! Your early support means a lot. However, as the podcast gains traction (which it will—I also teach YouTube growth strategies on another channel), I might not keep the Discord free to new members forever. A strong community thrives on dedicated core members, but too many people can make it overwhelming. So, if you're here at the start, join now while it's free! I can't guarantee it will stay that way, but if you get in now, you'll have free access for as long as the community exists.

You might be wondering, 'If your other channel has a big following, why is it free for them? Won't there already be too many people?' Great question. The reality is that Discord is still unfamiliar to many Korean users, and most find it too complicated to use. This naturally filters out casual users, meaning the current Korean members are those who have seen my channel, been convinced that immersion is effective, or at least want to give it a real try. If you know anything about South Korea, you’ll know that’s incredibly rare—compared to the English-speaking world's language immersion communities, like those built around Japanese immersion, there are virtually no true 'language immersion communities' in Korea. This makes our community unique. So, if you make friends here, feel free to help them along the way—both English and Korean are welcome!

📌 I'm always open to feedback about the community! If you have any ideas, feel free to share them in the 자유채팅방 (General Chat). I may not always respond, but I check it daily—and can honestly use the help!
